Jacksonville Attractions

Museums and Historic Sites
The entire town of Jacksonville is a National Historic Landmark and the Jacksonville Museum tells the story of the Native Americans, Chinese Immigrants, settlers, and miners that are all a part of Jacksonville's rich history. Their amazing collection of artifacts, along with photographic story boards, makes a tour through the museum like walking back in time. Next door, at the Jacksonville Children's museum, children can learn through interactive play as they dress up, set up camp on their journey west, play in a real general store, sit in an old school house classroom, and experience a miniature railroad. Stepping out of the museums, you step into Historic Jacksonville. Take a stroll, cycle, rent a Segway, or in the summer months, hop aboard our town trolley to view over 100 historic buildings dating back to the mid 1800's. A trip up the hill to the Jacksonville Cemetery will offer a glimpse into the lives of people who founded Jacksonville in an era before modern medicine, when disease and the elements claimed the lives of the very young. This is truly one of the most beautiful cemeteries in America filled with granite and marble monuments, mossy trees, roaming deer, and spectacular view over Historic Jacksonville.

Britt Festival
The Britt Music Festival draws thousands of music lovers to Jacksonville throughout summer and early fall as world-class entertainers make their appearance on the Britt stage, known for its incredible natural acoustics. Britt's performance venue is a naturally formed amphitheater set among majestic ponderosa pines and native madrones on the beautiful hillside estate of 19th century photographer Peter Britt. The Britt Music festival offers a unique venue for the enjoyment of a wide range of genres including rock, folk, jazz, classical, country, dance, and more. The well known Britt Festival classical series not only makes Jacksonville the prime Northwest venue for classical entertainment but also a creative hub where entertainers themselves congregate annually to collaborate, perform together, and mentor students in Britt's educational programs.

Hiking, Biking, and Tours

Jacksonville's Woodland Trail system provides miles of trails winding along Jackson Creek and above the town of Jacksonville through groves of madrone trees and wooded forests. These hills boast an abundance of wildlife including deer, raccoon, fox, coyote, and large birds of prey such as red tail hawks and the American Bald Eagle. In the springtime, the under story of the forest fills with a fanciful display of wildflowers including the rare Fritillaria gentneri, found only in Jacksonville.
